Mare of Easttown Review: perfectly balances mystery and drama
BingeHolics Rating
Our life's aren't easy all the time. Most of us have to deal with our own inner conflicts and problems. Mare of Easttown isn't just a crime drama but sets the bar high with its strong emotional quotient. Mare, a detective of Easttown who is coping with a personal loss and dysfunctional family gets sucked into a web of murders. As the mystery unfolds, more things in her life start to make a difference. This seven episode limited series is a baggage of mystery and emotions. I would like to call this an emotional drama reducing it to a thriller zone. As each episode passes we are taken deep into the life of Mare and the people of East town. Mare of East town perfectly balances mystery and drama thus creating an impact on the minds of viewers. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger and leaves us no clue of what's happening. The interrogation and findings are so natural and there aren't any usual cinematic gimmicks. The final reveal was convincing and ends the show on a high note. Kate Winslet, the soul of the show, is in her best form. She is exceptional as the emotionally unstable, grieving mother and an intelligent detective. Portraying such a complex character needs focus and she does it with ease. This 7 hour long journey through Easttown make us feel for them. Mare of Easttown is the most brilliantly written emotional thriller that deserves to be on your watchlist. DON'T MISS.
