In this second edition espionage thriller, director duo Raj & DK seems more matured as a writer and handles emotions quite effectively. We are introduced to Srikanth Tiwari who has left TASC following the events of season one. He is now a Corporate employee and his family life is in crisis. We are also taken into the world of Tamil Rebels who plan to assassinate The PM. The Family Man 2 is a war between good v/s good and it ensures to be gripping from the introduction sequence. What happens rest is a rollercoaster ride of thrills and action. Unlike the first season the tone is much darker and twisted. Raj & DK never rush to the proceedings thus it may look a bit unsettling in the first four episodes. Once the main premise is introduced this captivating thriller doesn't turn back. The political agendas and statements are loud and strong, the tamil rebels and their fight for freedom are handled with much care and doesn't leave any space for criticisms. Since the plot revolves around Chennai, most of the episodes feature strong Tamil dialogue and it's worth mentioning the effort taken by the crew in portraying the real and authentic Chennai city. Manoj Bajpai once again proves why he's the best in the field. An epitome of acting who excels as the confused, intelligent and vulnerable Tiwari. But it's Samantha Akkineni who grabs all the attention. Despite being slapped with a thick layer of brown face, her stupendous act as the Rebel leader is worth watching. She transforms into a lethal killer astonishingly and is fabulous in few jaw dropping action scenes. Sharib Hashmi, the constant companion to Srikanth is witty. Rest of the cast makes sure everything is in the right place. There are several subplots and the director duo cleverly manages to merge it with the main plot. The initial hour is just a setup and at the end everything starts making sense. The sumptuous set works and few exceptionally well shot single take action episodes by Cameron Eric Bryson are a huge boost for the show. Despite minor inconsistencies The Family Man 2 is a riveting thriller and justifies the hype created by first season.
