Just Beyond Review: A Bewildering Anthology by R.L. Stine

Just Beyond Review: A Bewildering Anthology by R.L. Stine

"Just Beyond," a new Disney anthology series inspired by R.L. Stine's novels, is an eight-episode anthology series that offers amazing and thought-provoking stories about a realm just beyond our own, including witches, aliens, ghosts, and parallel universes.

Each episode is absolutely distinct, with a new cast of characters and performers, making this series stand out from everything else on Disney+ thus far. Because each episode is 30 minutes long, the pacing for each tale is typically very rapid, with a brief set-up before getting directly to the primary emphasis of the storey and a climax. For the Halloween season, make them all into single bites of frightening delight.

The anthology kicks off with The Amazing Spider-Man and Gifted director Marc Webb’s short Leave Them Kids Alone, which has Mckenna Grace in the lead along with Nasim Pedrad. The segment deals with conditioning children and making them compliant to the norms, even those who stand out. A School for Difficult Children is used to tell the narrative. Due to its obvious plot and drab presentation, this is the anthology's poorest storey.

The second piece, Parents Are From Mars, Kids Are From Venus, is a jumbled, uninteresting short about two kids who discover something strange about their parents. It's also one of the two portions that has science fiction themes. Even a reference to Steven Spielberg's E.T. isn't enough to salvage this storey.

However, Which Witch, featuring a fantastic Rachel Marsh as a teenager with unusual abilities who struggles to blend in with the average crowd, kicks up the pace of the anthology. The episode is plenty of laughter and also covers important themes such as embracing one's own individuality and avoiding peer pressure.

The finest part in Just Beyond is without a doubt Standing Up For Yourself. The storey follows a bully named Trevor Larkin, whose father pretty much runs the town, and spans almost a witty but just version of Groundhog Day. Trevor's life, as well as that of the town, changes after he assaults a specially-abled adolescent at school. The episode is also the most cinematic of the eight since it is told entirely from the perspective of a bully.

The Treehouse, the last episode, is about a teen whose father died a year ago. He is sent to an other reality after lightning strikes his treehouse, where he meets his mother and father, but the only problem is that he is not their son in that realm. The moving narrative explores loss and the process of reconstructing one's life.

Stand Up For Yourself, We've Got Spirits, Yes We Do, My Monster, and Which Witch — in that order – are our best selections out of the eight. Because the episodes are under 30 minutes, it's ideal for a weekend binge or a fast viewing during your lunch break.

House Of Secrets: The Burari Deaths Review : The Strangest True Story Of A Delhi Family That Mysteriously Ended.

House Of Secrets: The Burari Deaths Review : The Strangest True Story Of A Delhi Family That Mysteriously Ended.

Rating:

Early on 1 July 2018, the residents of Sant Nagar, Burari, an overcrowded neighbourhood of North Delhi, made an alarming discovery. Three generations of the Chundawat family, also known as the Bhatias, were found bound and hanging in their home.

The three-part Netflix documentary series House Of Secrets: The Burari Deaths (2021), directed by Leena Yadav and Anubhav Chopra, is an insightful but hard watch about the untold secrets of the family that led to this horrifying tragedy.

The first episode, which features the inputs of the neighbours, police officers, crime branch officers and other family members, takes us through what was discovered that day. Each salacious detail unearthed threw the media into a frenzy. The news that had spread quickly about the murder case was disturbing. However, as details emerged, reporters realized that this incident was far more disturbing than they thought before. Eleven members of the family, ranging in age from 15 to 80, were found hanging, blindfolded with their hands bound and cotton in their ears. The elderly matriarch, Narayani Devi, was the only one found in another room. The family dog Tommy was the sole voiceless survivor.

Yadav and her team travelled to the families’ hometowns in Dhar and Narayngarh to interview the perplexed, grieving families of Savita and Tina, the two daughters-in-law. The surviving siblings who did not live in Delhi were unable to come to terms with the concept of mass suicides.

The Chundawats’ neighbours, employees and friends have nothing but good things to say about the tightly knit family. In fact, they had been celebrating the upcoming engagement of 33-year-old Priyanka. As episodes, two and three revealed, this case was more complicated than was reported: there were signs that a havan (ritual pyre) had also been present. The series showcases the inner workings of a family due to the extensive diaries they kept and their immense wealth. Viewers get to see the youngest son, 47-year-old Lalit, who became de facto head of the family after his father Bhopal Singh’s death. The show delves into the far-reaching influence of the late patriarch.

The series, which includes those assigned to and covering the case at the time, along with psychologists and psychiatrists, looks at the difficult questions about mental health that we collectively ignore in society. We want these questions to remain inside the family. House Of Secrets was produced by Yogendra More and Katherine Leblond. The series features a non-intrusive but compelling score, composed and produced by AR Rahman and Qutub-e-Kripa. It has been shot by Aseem Bajaj, Anshuman Singh Thakur and Anirban Chatterjee.
This series uses CCTV and news footage and home videos to give us a sense of the furore that surrounded the case. It also includes recreations and interviews with those involved at the time to give us a better understanding of events.
The series covers all aspects of the incident, so much so that one wonders whether the eerie occurrence was really a mass suicide or a series of murders or just one giant tragedy. Those involved in the case are scratching their heads. Like many documentaries, there are answers, yes, but it also raises many questions whose answers can only be proffered by those who are no more.

Maid Limited Series Review: One of Netflix's best shows this year

Maid Limited Series Review: One of Netflix's best shows this year

2021 | 18+ | 1 Season | TV Shows Based on Books

Rating:

After fleeing an abusive relationship, a young mother finds a job cleaning houses as she fights to provide for her child and build them a better future. Margaret Qualley Stars Alex, She's a young mom, who finds herself up against insurmountable odds at just about every turn, when she decides to escape her abusive relationship.

This limited series is 10 episodes of just claustrophobic and suffocating drama. The series is wildly addictive but it's also emotionally draining now. Qualley is vulnerable defeated and then indomitable when it comes to her daunting circumstances. This poor girl just can't catch a  break and when it seems like she's about to the entire world comes crashing down again. Alex is a very sympathetic character and not just because of her circumstances she exudes this inner worth that makes us feel compassion and root for her but there are sometimes too though where she's is her own worst enemy. The story unfolds more and moreover the episodes we get insight into Alex's upbringing and her environments that really did help to shape where she's at now. The cast of characters in this is an awesome mix of insanity compassion and anger.

Via: Netflix

Andie MacDowell's place is Alex's mom, it is an amazing performance she is sweet and stabbing and just an emotional tornado. Every interaction is unreliable and stressful but then it's also sadistically enjoyable. MacDowell absolutely nails her character crafting somebody who is hard to take in but yet someone we can't tear our eyes away from.

Anika Noni Rose plays this wealthy woman whose house is clean by Alex and just like all of the characters in Alex's life she is emotionally uneven with some interactions being very and compassionate and then others just being rude and biting.

We love one of the themes in this show is how we can have Alex who cleans organize messes for other people's lives and never gets the opportunity to do it for herself. Overall Maid is an emotionally draining drama with a central character who is charismatic and sympathetic the limited series is wrought with anxieties we watch our protagonist gain strength and self-confidence amidst terrible circumstances

The acting is phenomenal creating characters that are wildly complex and evoking a gamut of emotions and sometimes at breakneck speeds while the show is long and there' are some opportunities to trim it down some the end result is a powerful examination of women fighting the world.

There's sex no nudity a ton of profanity and some violence which also includes descriptions and the aftermath of domestic abuse.

Squid Game Review : Sadistic Game from Korea!

 | |  |

Plot of  Series

Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits — with deadly high stakes.

Starring: Lee Jung-Jae, Park Hae-soo, Wi Ha-jun

Creators: Hwang Dong-hyuk

Series Review

Squid Game is a brutally devastating, spine-tingling, spellbinding, and mind-blowing entertainment! The brilliant concept, unconventional storyline, nail-biting plot, noteworthy performances, grand-scale production, and thought-provoking lessons will definitely have you at the edge of your seat. The vibrant façade and eye-popping visuals will blind you from the violent and terrifying core of the drama. The series was wrapped in bright and vivid colors while serving you a dark and intense narrative. It will send you to a whirlwind of enormous emotions—one hell of a ride! It will hold your attention from start to finish. Insanely enjoyable throughout! This is the type of drama that you can’t get out of your head. Stomach-knotting suspense that will move you. Enthralling, edgy, breathtaking, and solid!

Image Via: Netflix

The series is based on several elements that will all be impeccable. The twists and turns are always well brought and the tension is very strong. This is a real demonstration of how to make an addictive series thanks to its construction and how the story can be put at the service of its well-developed characters.
These are particularly interesting and the second episode even takes the trouble to discover more particularly some to which we attach ourselves very quickly. This is of course not a good idea in a series where the number of victims increases with each episode is where the end remains uncertain for most of them

The interpretation is really very good. Lee Jung-jae is excellent as a man living with his mother and trying to pay off his debts. Jung Ho-yeon literally breaks the screen as a young North Korean wishing to make money. Park Hae-so is really just a brilliant man wanting to win the bet. Yeong-Su oh is very good as an elderly man trying to regain taste for life. Anupam Tripathi is particularly touching in Pakistani wanting to protect his family. Heo Sung-Tae is very good at heartless criminal. Kim Joo-ryoung is impeccable as an irritating woman who wants to achieve her goals at all costs. And Wi Ha-joon brilliantly embodies a tenacious inspector trying to put an end to the game.

The cast of Squid Game really put their A-Game in making the show an electrifying one! Each of them did compelling portrayals. It is the first time that I saw the majority of the actors in this series except for Park Hae Soo that totally loved in Prison Playbook. we never thought that he has this kind of versatility in him. From the innocent and naive character in Prison Playbook, he flawlessly transitioned to a darker role as Cho Sang Woo here in Squid Game. His portrayal is absolutely great! Lee Jung Jae is such a praiseworthy actor! He accomplished his role in the most grounded manner. His performance as Seong Gi Hun made me crave more of him! There’s a lot of new faces here but it doesn’t stop them from unleashing their full potentials! New stars are definitely born from this show! Jung Ho Yeon, the ultimate fan favorite is totally deserving of the recognition she is receiving right now. This is actually her debut drama and I am pretty sure that henceforth, she will start to receive countless offers as she really did a memorable execution as Kang Sae Byeok. Wi Ha Joon got a small amount of screen time compared to the main leads but it didn’t stop him from being recognized by the fans. He did a very charismatic performance in portraying the character Hwang Jun Ho. And to all the actors that I failed to mention, all of you did a tremendous job!

Squid Game Review: The Last Words

Squid Game entertains, excites, and engages with believable characters and a great rhythm, but in the end, comes out some crackles that ruin a near-perfect picture. The end result is definitely positive, and if you’re looking for a series that will keep you glued to the screen, this is definitely for you.

Sweet Tooth Review : Sweet Tooth is a lovely story about a hybrid child

Sweet Tooth (2021) bingeholics

BingeHolics Rating

Gus may have antlers like a deer, but he’s a puppy dog at heart. The main character of an American fantasy drama streaming television series developed by Jim Mickle. Produced by Robert Downey Jr and Susan Downey, based on the comic by Jeff Lemire, is a young boy struggling to survive in a world ravaged by a pandemic.

Sweet Tooth is a lovely story about a hybrid child who after the death of his father, goes on a perilous journey in search of his mother in Colorado.

There are other characters too whose stories becomes relevant along the way. It's beautifully written and a special mention to Christian Convery for making his character Gus a delight.

The chemistry between Gus and Tommy Jepperd is as sweet as a caramel apple!

Sweet Tooth offers something different and clever and it's paid off. It's enchanting and we were glued as soon as we saw the frankly adorable hybrid babies. The whole thing is comic book personified. We loved it.

We wholeheartedly recommend this series ❤

Mare of Easttown Review: perfectly balances mystery and drama

BingeHolics Rating

Our life's aren't easy all the time. Most of us have to deal with our own inner conflicts and problems. Mare of Easttown isn't just a crime drama but sets the bar high with its strong emotional quotient. Mare, a detective of Easttown who is coping with a personal loss and dysfunctional family gets sucked into a web of murders. As the mystery unfolds, more things in her life start to make a difference. This seven episode limited series is a baggage of mystery and emotions. I would like to call this an emotional drama reducing it to a thriller zone. As each episode passes we are taken deep into the life of Mare and the people of East town. Mare of East town perfectly balances mystery and drama thus creating an impact on the minds of viewers. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger and leaves us no clue of what's happening. The interrogation and findings are so natural and there aren't any usual cinematic gimmicks. The final reveal was convincing and ends the show on a high note. Kate Winslet, the soul of the show, is in her best form. She is exceptional as the emotionally unstable, grieving mother and an intelligent detective. Portraying such a complex character needs focus and she does it with ease. This 7 hour long journey through Easttown make us feel for them. Mare of Easttown is the most brilliantly written emotional thriller that deserves to be on your watchlist. DON'T MISS.

The Family Man Season 02 Review: riveting thriller and justifies the hype created by first season

BingeHolics Rating

In this second edition espionage thriller, director duo Raj & DK seems more matured as a writer and handles emotions quite effectively. We are introduced to Srikanth Tiwari who has left TASC following the events of season one. He is now a Corporate employee and his family life is in crisis. We are also taken into the world of Tamil Rebels who plan to assassinate The PM. The Family Man 2 is a war between good v/s good and it ensures to be gripping from the introduction sequence. What happens rest is a rollercoaster ride of thrills and action. Unlike the first season the tone is much darker and twisted. Raj & DK never rush to the proceedings thus it may look a bit unsettling in the first four episodes. Once the main premise is introduced this captivating thriller doesn't turn back. The political agendas and statements are loud and strong, the tamil rebels and their fight for freedom are handled with much care and doesn't leave any space for criticisms. Since the plot revolves around Chennai, most of the episodes feature strong Tamil dialogue and it's worth mentioning the effort taken by the crew in portraying the real and authentic Chennai city. Manoj Bajpai once again proves why he's the best in the field. An epitome of acting who excels as the confused, intelligent and vulnerable Tiwari. But it's Samantha Akkineni who grabs all the attention. Despite being slapped with a thick layer of brown face, her stupendous act as the Rebel leader is worth watching. She transforms into a lethal killer astonishingly and is fabulous in few jaw dropping action scenes. Sharib Hashmi, the constant companion to Srikanth is witty. Rest of the cast makes sure everything is in the right place. There are several subplots and the director duo cleverly manages to merge it with the main plot. The initial hour is just a setup and at the end everything starts making sense. The sumptuous set works and few exceptionally well shot single take action episodes by Cameron Eric Bryson are a huge boost for the show. Despite minor inconsistencies The Family Man 2 is a riveting thriller and justifies the hype created by first season.

Panic Review: Teens Face Deadly Dares

Rating : 3.0/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review by : Ashik MM
Cast : Olivia Welch,Olivia Welch , Ray Nicholson, Camron Jones

Seeing the trailer of this series we were really thrilled to watch this one. The trailer was really cool with lots of thrilling stuff in it. But the real fact is that the Amazon Prime series does not live up to the mark. Let's get into a detailed review of this.

Panic was actually Lauren Oliver's Best Seller novel. The web series is based on the novel. The cast includes  Olivia Welch, Jessica Sula, Ray Nicholson, Mike Faist and Camron Jones. It belongs to a genre of teen/Mystery-drama. The Show is set in a town where the high school graduates play the game of Panic which includes highly dangerous and life threatening games.

The winner of the game gets a cash prize. The central character of the series Heather is in urgent need of money, she takes part in the game even when she knew she had to compete against her friends. Then it leads to mysterious incidents in the town.
The show according to us is just an average one and is not a wort watch. The first three episodes were promising and thrilling but as the show continues it leads to the usual teen drama scenes with predictable incidents. The lead actors Olivia Welch and Ray Nicholson have done a descent job.
Apart from these performances and some thrilling scenes the show has nothing as a wow factor in it.
